Maria instructs the following:
  • Yin Yoga
  • A slow and peaceful practice that has many benefits. This form of yoga increases flexibility and promotes healthy joints as well as allowing the mind to slow down and come into the present moment.

We will finish each class with a period of meditation.

This class is suitable for all levels.

  • Beginners Vinyasa Flow
  • Yoga flow classes are open to all regardless of whether you are a beginner or experienced practitioner - they offer a deep reaching series of dynamic and static postures, emphasising the unity between breath and movement. Each class offers a complete Yoga experience, designed to gently stretch and strengthen the body, open the heart and expand the mind. Through practice we learn to release tension or resistance in the body. This has an effect of calming the mind, expanding our awareness and connecting us to an unending source of inner peace. As a result we begin to feel a deep sense of physical freedom and can relax into the flow of life with greater ease. As our flow deepens we begin to live from an intuitive space, a space that is full of clarity and vitality. A space where anything is possible! “It is not enough to simply take a step, that step needs to take us into the right direction and in the right way” - Vinyasa as described by TKV Deskichar

  • Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra
  • Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra

    Price: £25
Yin yoga is a way of working our deep tissues and keeping our joints healthy. It is also a deeply meditative practice as the poses are each held for a few minutes fully supported by props to take away any strain.

This can be a challenging form of yoga as it can be a struggle to still our body and mind but once this challenge is overcome, there is a wonderful feeling of stillness and peace. The practice allows us to connect with our bodies, being aware of tightness and limitations so that we can work with them rather than against them. It is also a fantastic opportunity for self reflection.

Yoga Nidra has the potential to completely relax the body and takes our mind to the same state as when we are in a deep dreamless sleep but still with a level of awareness. As well as a form of complete rest for the body and mind, it is also a deeply spiritual practice.

The workshop will begin with pranayama (breathing practices) to start stilling the mind and settling the body. We will then come into our yin yoga practice allowing time to find the variation of each posture that works best for each of us. Towards the end of the session, we will use yoga nidra to fully absorb our yoga practice by relaxing the body and mind fully. Finally we will ground ourselves using all of our senses in preparation for going back into our everyday lives while still maintaining a feeling of calm.

This workshop is suitable for all levels. Advance booking essential.

  • Warm Flow Yoga
  • Our Warm Yoga is a Vinyasa flow class performed under hotter and humid conditions. Often associated with the style devised by Bikram Choudhury, uses heat to increase an individual's flexibility in the poses. In colder climates, hot yoga often seeks to replicate the heat and humidity of southern India from where many styles of yoga originate.

Students perform a series of postures designed to improve flexibility, muscle tone and balance whilst increasing the metabolism (essential for successful weight loss) and flushing toxins from the body. Hot Yoga systematically stretches and strengthens muscles throughout the body, increases circulation to internal organs and glands, stabilises the nervous system and improves concentration. This system of self-care brings vitality, health and relaxation to the body, peace to the mind and a smile to the face.

  • Sivananda Classic Yoga
  • This is the classic yoga class, which consists of relaxation, postures, breathing and meditation. It follows the eight steps of Yoga and there is also a comprehensive 10 week course of Yoga offered at the centre, for those that want to deepen their understanding and experience.
